Originally inhabited by the Kurnaj-berring tribe of the Wurundjeri clan and European influenced from 1837, Bundoora holds a rich and complex history. Visit Bundoora’s heritage village in Bundoora Park to experience Australian life in the early 20th century and spot historic farm buildings dating back to 1899. Other heritage buildings in Bundoora include Bundoora Homestead that currently functions as an arts centre and the former Larundel Hospital that is undergoing a rapid transformation into a thriving residential and commercial hub.

2. Bundoora’s Dog Park

The City of Darebin is home to over 30 off-lead dog parks. However, its most pup-ular one is undoubtedly Bundoora Park. The first (and only) dog agility park in Melbourne’s north, the park offers dog training equipment, drinking fountains –with dog bowls, of course, litter bag dispensers and seating for pet owners, making it the perfect playground for man’s best friend.

3. Bundoora Homestead Art Centre

Located in an incredible turn of the century Queen Anne-style Federation mansion, the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is an art gallery that has housed the masterpieces of some of the region’s finest visual artists including Kenneth Jack’s Australian landscapes exhibition and the Photography Meets Feminism: Australian Women Photographer 1970s-80s exhibition.

4. Supernatural

Tucked away in La Trobe university, Supernatural Eatery may be Bundoora’s best kept foodie secret. The seasonal rotating menu features dishes like chicken soba noodle salads, roast pumpkin miso toasties and coconut chia puddings. All produce is fresh and ethically sourced from local artisans – and even their packaging is eco-friendly! So go ahead and indulge, it’s guilt-free!

5. Mt. Cooper Scenic Drive & Drive Thru Coffee

Sitting 137m above sea level, Mt Cooper is the highest point in Melbourne’s metropolitan area, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the city skyline. Before breaking a sweat, be sure to grab a caffeine fix from Early Bird coffee, Bundoora’s only drive-through coffee venue.
